"Turtle's Wetland Quest"
an engaging story about a New England wetland habitat.
National-award-winning puppeteer Deborah Costine uses the highly effective medium of puppetry to teach about nature.  Researched, written, designed and built by Debbie, this puppet show teaches about a wetland and the North American Beaver, Blue Spotted Salamander and Blandings Turtle that need it.
When children are drawn into the unique world of the puppet show they develop a strong connection with the characters  that will stay with them long afterward. This promotes a greater interest in learning more about them!

Massachusetts Puppeteer Deborah Costine has been touring New England and beyond for over 30 years with puppet show stories that educate and entertain.  For lower elementary school grades, Debbie's newest original nature story: "Turtle's Wetland Quest," is about the Blanding's Turtle and it's need for a new wetland habitat. Also in the story is a beaver, a blue spotted salamander, a dragonfly and two children.  Topics include adaptation, life cycles, wetlands, habitats, and habits of New England animals.  A Study Guide helping to connect with Science Curriculum Standards is available.  This is perfect for cultural enrichment programs for  kindergarten through grade four because it not only entertains, but educates and inspires.

Other shows include favorites such as "The Three Little Pigs," "The Three Billy Goats Gruff," "Stone Soup," "A Woodland Cinderella" and her own story “The Twig Family in the Oak Tree.”   These are perfect for Nursery Schools, libraries and birthday parties.

Ms. Costine travels with her puppet shows throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island and much of Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.  She has performed at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Regional Puppetry Festivals at Bryn Mawr College and the University of Maryland, The Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline MA. as well as hundreds of schools and even birthday parties!  Deborah has the distinction of receiving the highest award in Puppetry in North America; The UNIMA USA Citation for Excellence.

Debbie’s  mission is to perform stories and puppet shows for children that inspire a connection and love of nature. Her own childhood was greatly enhanced by long hours playing in the woods with her brothers up in Northern NH.  The freedom to explore and connect to the simple joys of nature and the out-of-doors inspired a lifelong love that is a source of endless pleasure for Debbie.

Ms Costine is also co-founder and partner of The Gerwick Puppets, an award winning puppet company that has presented thousands of school assembly programs throughout New England.
